Two men were hospitalized after a garbage truck collided with a pickup truck in Fairfield on Thursday afternoon.
Police and emergency workers were called to the intersection of Norridgewock Road and Center Road for a rollover at about 3 p.m., Fairfield Police Chief Thomas Gould said in a news release.
At the scene, police learned that Timothy Bailey, 38, of Knox, had been driving west on Center Road in a 2007 International garbage truck owned by Bolster’s Rubbish Removal of Burnam when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Norridgewock Road and hit a 2020 Jeep Gladiator
driven by Richard Parker, 79, of New Portland, Gould said.
After hitting the Jeep, the garbage truck rolled onto its side, and partially onto the passenger side of the Gladiator.
Both men were brought to MaineGeneral Medical Center Emergency Department in Waterville for their injuries. Both were listed in stable condition, Gould said.
Fairfield police are continuing to investigate the crash with help from the Maine State
Police Commercial Enforcement Unit and Maine State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
