Bar Harbor bridge will be replaced starting next month

28 March 2025

Next month crews will begin work ahead of the replacement of a Bar Harbor bridge.

Workers will begin in early April to clear a pathway for a temporary detour around Cromwell Brook Bridge, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

That will allow vehicle and pedestrian traffic to navigate the area. The detour will feature a single lane of alternating traffic.

Cromwell Brook Bridge carries Ledgelawn Avenue/Great Meadow Drive over Cromwell Brook.

Construction on the new bridge will begin June 2 and run through fall 2026. Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with no construction on weekends planned at this time.

During construction, there will be a single lane width of 12 feet.

T-Buck Construction of Turner has been contracted for the $2.5 million project, the department said Thursday.
