Hootie and the Blowfish were scheduled to perform at the Maine Savings Amphitheater on Friday night. But before the show, frontman Darius Rucker hit the links.
Rucker, who sang his band to fame in the 1990s with the hits “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry” and “Only Wanna Be with You,” played 18 holes of golf at Rocky Knoll Country Club in Orrington on Friday.
Daisy Wight, co-owner of the club with her husband Mike Wight, said she was honored that the singer picked Rocky Knoll Country Club.

Rucker posed for photos with club staff, and gave them six tickets to the show and a VIP meet and greet, Wight said.
“What a guy!!” she said in a Facebook message.
Rucker is an avid golfer and has teamed up with the sports equipment company Parsons Xtreme Golf for a contest coinciding with Hootie and the Blowfish tour dates, in which winners can play 18 holes of golf with the singer.
Bangor’s Waterfront Concerts series started on May 26 and runs through Sept. 14.
