A teacher is accused of assaulting a student at a Maine middle school earlier this year.
Thomas Morawiec, 48, has been charged with misdemeanor assault, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
The alleged assault happened on March 25, but it wasn’t reported to the sheriff’s office until May 28, when the 12-year-old student’s parents brought it to the attention of a school resource officer.
Morawiec is a speech therapist at Gray-New Gloucester Middle School.
He was scheduled to appear in Portland District Court on Aug. 14.
