Mainer hurt in explosion while installing gas appliance

A Mainer was hurt Thursday afternoon in an explosion while installing a gas appliance at a Bowdoinham home.

The homeowner was attempting to install a gas appliance about 2 p.m. when an explosion sparked a fire at the Ridge Road home, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron Turcotte.

That person was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Turcotte said.

No additional information was immediately available.
