He was sentenced on Monday to 18 years in prison with all but five years suspended on the assault charge and a consecutive sentence of five years, all suspended, for the drug trafficking charge, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened at about 7:05 p.m. on July 4, 2023, as people were gathering on the Naples Causeway to view the Independence Day fireworks, which were subsequently canceled.

An unidentified boy was hospitalized with injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
