This story will be updated.

The driver of a semi-truck was injured Monday when his vehicle and a train collided in the Waldo County town of Prospect. He was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The crash happened where Muskrat Farm Road crosses over train tracks just east of Route 1A, also known as Bangor Road.

After the crash, at about 2:30 p.m., the truck was just to the side of the tracks with a badly damaged cab. There was no cargo container on it. Many police officers and workers were at the crash site.

The train, which had Canadian Pacific written across its locomotive, appeared to have backed away from the crash scene and was standing idle. It had no obvious damage.

State workers arrived around 2:45 p.m. to remove diesel fuel that was slowly leaking from the truck, according to Prospect Fire Chief David Terry.

Little other information was immediately available about the crash, including what caused it, the extent of the driver’s injuries or whether the train had any cargo.
