Maine’s destination furniture retailer to close permanently with owner’s retirement

GLENBURN — Tuffy Bear Discount Furniture, a family-owned furniture and mattress retailer in business for nearly a half-century, will close its doors permanently following its total liquidation sale that opens to the public July 4.

From delivery driver, to manager, to owner, Shawn Graham has dedicated his life to Tuffy Bear Discount Furniture since 1984. Graham and his wife Sherry purchased the business in 2004, making it their mission to provide quality furniture at accessible prices to the residents across Maine. The Grahams plan to retire and shut down the family business.

“My wife and I would like to thank all of the surrounding communities for their loyalty and support over the last 40 years,” said Graham. “It has been truly rewarding to help furnish homes and bring comfort and beauty to the lives of so many families.”

Tuffy Bear Discount Furniture is located at 938 Pushaw Road in Glenburn. The going-out-of-business sale begins July 4 and will offer deep discounts of up to 50 percent on all home accessories. The 40,000 square foot, three-story showroom features an impressive selection of furniture for every room in the home with a majority of products made in the USA. Famous name brands include La-Z-Boy, Best Home, England, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Null, Howard Miller, Vaughan-Bassett, and more. Management encourages early shopping for the best selection.

Tuffy Bear Discount Furniture was established in 1978, and today, the retailer is considered one of Maine’s largest furniture stores with its unique name drawing interest from customers around the state. For more information on the going-out-of-business sale, visit www.tuffybear.com.
